A CONCURRENT RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE COPIAH-LINCOLN COMMUNITY COLLEGE MEN'S AND WOMEN'S BASKETBALL TEAMS FOR WINNING THE MISSISSIPPI ASSOCIATION OF COMMUNITY/JUNIOR COLLEGES STATE CHAMPIONSHIPS.
WHEREAS, the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves and Lady Wolves Basketball Teams won their respective Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges State Championship on February 23, 1999; and
WHEREAS, for the first time in the history of Copiah-Lincoln Community College basketball, both teams won the state championship in the same year; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Wolves won the MACJC South Division Championship and also went undefeated in the overall state tournament to post a 23-6 record; and
WHEREAS, the Wolves finished first place in the South Division, won the South Division Championship and went undefeated in the overall state tournament to post a 24-4 record; and
WHEREAS, these teams have been superbly coached and inspired by Head Coaches Dennis Sims and Gwyn Young, who have broadened the players knowledge of the game and refined their skills in execution; and
WHEREAS, the Wolves and Lady Wolves have developed a winning and cooperative spirit and a high degree of sportsmanship, and their activities and attitude reflect great credit upon the individual players and their coaches and bring honor to Copiah-Lincoln Community College; and
WHEREAS, it is the policy of this Legislature to recognize and commend excellence, especially when evidenced by the young people of our state, who are its future:
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE STATE OF MISSISSIPPI, THE SENATE CONCURRING THEREIN, That we commend and congratulate the Copiah-Lincoln Community College Wolves and Lady Wolves Basketball Teams and Head Coaches Dennis Sims and Gwyn Young for their phenomenal 1998-1999 seasons, for winning the Mississippi Association of Community/Junior Colleges State Championships and for displaying tireless devotion to their athletic endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That copies of this resolution be furnished to Copiah-Lincoln Community College, Head Coaches Dennis Sims and Gwyn Young and members of the Capitol Press Corps.
